Stand Against Anti-Black Racism

Racism exists everywhere. It happens in our society and it happens in our schools.

Bedford South School and Halifax Regional Centre for Education stand against anti-Black racism. We strive to create inclusive learning and working environments where all students and staff feel affirmed, validated and nurtured. But the work won’t be complete until all issues around equity and racism are addressed.

In this moment, we have an opportunity to make real change. Education is the most powerful tool the world has ever known, and as educators, it is our responsibility to use it to teach anti-racism in our classrooms, in our schools and in our communities. If you see it, name it. If you hear it, expose it. If you experience it, tell us. Here’s how:

  • If you are a student…talk to your teachers, the school support staff, your principal and/or vice principal.
  • If you are a parent or a community member…talk to your child’s teacher, the principal, vice principal and/or the School Administration Supervisor.
  • If you are a staff member…talk to your supervisor and/or our Human Resources department.

We will listen. We will learn. We will act.
